Westside stump removal is owned and operated by Eric and Anna Vizanko in McHenry County Illinois. After over 10 years of experience working for other landscaping companies, we decided Start our own business in the spring of 2017. We wanted to offer a premium service to our clients from start to finish. We focus on Residential Stump Removal, but we also provide Full Tree services, Brush clearing, Storm Damage Cleanup and general landscape makeovers. If you have a problem with trees or shrubs, we can solve it. We also provide affordable sub-contracting rates to other Landscape Services, and property management companies. We work locally in the greater Mchenry county area and will travel to surrounding counties by request. We pride ourselves on our exceptional customer service. About stump removal
Many times a tree dies from natural causes like disease or storm damage. Other times a tree has been removed for property or landscape improvement, leaving behind the unsightly stump. People often drill holes in them or try to burn their stumps to speed the decay process or remove the stump. These tactics simply don't work very well. Grinding is the proven method to remove your stump for good. Grinding a stump includes removing the main root structure also so your yard can be restored.

When removing a stump to plant new grass we typically grind to a depth of 12 inches or more to provide room for the new root structure of the lawn. In cases where new landscaping is to be installed we have the capability to grind even deeper. Reaching depths of 18-22 inches.
What is left behind ?

After a stump is removed you will have a small pile of dirt and mulch chips. The material content depends largely on the type and size of the stump that was removed. A bigger stump will leave behind more mulch. In any case the material is raked into the hole for settling, and once this occurs the client can replant grass or landscaping. If needed the mulch can be removed and used in your garden beds. black dirt can then be used to bring the area to proper grade.
What does it cost ?
We have a minimum charge of 130 dollars for any stump removal, and the price of a stump can range between 3 and 6 dollars per inch of diameter. Diameter of a stump is measured where the stump enters the ground. Variables like Species and overall volume of material to be removed can change the cost. Will you destroy my yard?
No. We operate a track driven stump grinder that is very lawn friendly. Our machine is small enough to fit through most standard fence openings but big enough to handle any stump. the machine is similar in size to a large riding lawn mower. Most evidence of our operation is gone when we leave the job site.
What if my stump is sticking out above the ground?
No Worries. We run a large Stihl chainsaw to remove as much of the stump as we can. We will make quick work of your stumps and haul away large chunks or logs. This allows the grinder to operate closer to the ground producing less debris. We don't typically haul any grindings away.
How long does it take ?
The longest part of the project is waiting for JULIE to locate for utilities if required. Once we began the project JULIE is contacted and usually mark the property within 2 business days. Once the site is marked and we are clear to grind, it doesn't take long. We prefer not to operate in bad weather so we schedule our work accordingly. We are mostly seasonal working between March and December but if weather permits we can extend our season in either direction.
